My baby still isn't crawling - should I worry?

Some babies don't crawl until 10-12 months, and about 10% skip crawling entirely. If baby is moving somehow (rolling, scooting, bottom-shuffling), that counts. Talk to your doctor if baby shows no interest in moving, seems very stiff or floppy, or favors one side of their body.

Baby refuses solid foods - only wants milk!

Many babies go through solid food refusal phases around 8-9 months. Keep offering variety without pressure, eat together as a family, and let baby see you enjoying food. Milk is still the primary nutrition source until 12 months, so baby won't starve. Talk to your doctor if baby refuses all food for more than a few days or loses weight.

Why won't my baby nap?

At 9 months, wake windows should be 2.5-3.5 hours. Common issues: wrong timing (too soon or too late), overtiredness, undertiredness, or transitioning between 3 and 2 naps. Watch baby's cues more than the clock.

Is my baby supposed to be saying words?

"Mama" and "dada" might start emerging around 9-10 months, but babbling (repetitive consonant sounds like "babababa") is typical. True meaningful words usually start closer to 12 months. Talk to your doctor if baby isn't babbling at all by 9 months.

My baby freaks out when I leave - even for a minute!

Separation anxiety peaks around 8-10 months and is a normal, healthy developmental phase. Practice short separations, have consistent goodbye routines, and don't sneak away. Most babies improve by 15-18 months, though some have flare-ups later.

How do I childproof for a mobile baby?

Now that baby moves: install stair gates (top and bottom), anchor all furniture to walls, remove tablecloths, cover outlets, lock cabinets with chemicals/medications, keep small objects off the floor, remove low-level hazards. Get on hands and knees to see baby's view.
