My baby is having major tantrums - is this normal?

Yes - tantrums starting around 11 months are developmentally normal as babies have desires but can't express them or achieve goals. They may hit, bite, or scream in frustration. Stay calm, keep them safe, and know this is a phase that peaks around 18 months before gradually improving.

Should I worry my baby isn't walking yet?

Walking between 12-18 months is completely normal - many babies don't walk until 14-15 months. At 11 months, cruising, standing, or crawling are all on track. Talk to your doctor if baby shows no interest in pulling up or bearing weight by 15 months.

How do I handle extreme separation anxiety?

Month 11 is often the worst for separation anxiety. Keep goodbyes short and consistent, don't sneak away, establish predictable routines, and practice short separations. Most babies improve by 15 months. If anxiety interferes with sleep or daily life for weeks, talk to your pediatrician.

My baby isn't saying words yet - just babbling. Is that okay?

Many babies say their first words closer to 12-14 months. At 11 months, varied babbling ("babababa," "dadadada") is typical. Talk to your doctor if baby isn't babbling at all, doesn't respond to their name, or doesn't use gestures (pointing, waving) by 12 months.

Is baby ready to drop the morning nap?

Most babies transition from 2 naps to 1 between 15-18 months, but some show signs as early as 12 months: fighting morning nap, taking very long to fall asleep, or naps interfering with bedtime. If baby is under 14 months, try pushing the morning nap later rather than dropping it.

What should I do for the first birthday party?

Keep it short (1-2 hours), small (close family/friends), and during baby's happy time (not nap time). Don't stress - baby won't remember it. Simple decorations, finger foods, and a small cake for baby to smash are enough. You're celebrating baby's first year and your survival!
