What should I expect at the 2-month checkup?

Your baby will get vaccines (DTaP, rotavirus, Hib, PCV, IPV, Hep B), measurements (weight, length, head), and a developmental check. Side effects like fussiness or low fever are normal for 24-48 hours. Call your doctor if fever exceeds 101°F (38.3°C) or baby is inconsolable.

Why did my baby suddenly start sleeping worse?

Around 6-8 weeks, many babies have shorter naps and more night wakings as their sleep cycles mature. This isn't technically a regression, just a developmental phase. It usually improves by 12-14 weeks.

Is my baby supposed to be cooing and smiling yet?

By 2 months, most babies smile responsively, make cooing sounds, and watch you as you move. Talk to your doctor if your baby doesn't smile at people, make sounds, or watch things move.

Can I sleep train at 2 months?

It's too early for formal sleep training - babies this age still need night feeds and can't self-soothe yet. Focus on safe sleep basics and establishing gentle routines. Most sleep training methods start at 4-6 months.

My baby wants to eat all the time - is this normal?

Growth spurts around 6 weeks cause cluster feeding where baby wants to eat every hour or two, especially in the evening. This doesn't mean low milk supply - it's baby's way of increasing your production. These intense days pass quickly.

When can I stop worrying about SIDS?

SIDS risk peaks at 2-4 months but drops significantly after 6 months. Always place baby on their back to sleep, keep the crib empty (no blankets, pillows, bumpers), and room-share until at least 6 months.
